For years I've been wanting to try YSL Lipsticks but the price has been holding me back. The most recent Sephora sale I decided to give in and get one. This was my only haul from that sale.

Product Review: Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) Rouge Volupte Lipstick in #1 Nude Beige

Where to purchase: YSL counters, Sephora, and yslbeautyus.com
Price: $34 for 0.14 oz/4 g

Made in France

Description from the website: An object of desire, this award-winning lipstick is wrapped in a romantic, elegant gold case that exudes luxury. Each signature shade saturates lips in captivating color that's intensely pigmented, and imparts an irresistible glossy shine. The long-lasting, comforting formula is highlighted with a unique Color-shine Complex that leaves lips visibly smoother, plumper and more radiant. Light, silky texture smooths on a veil of satiny, sensual color that's altogether alluring.
Ingredients:

Thoughts: For years, I heard about this lipstick. Now that I finally purchased one, I was extremely excited! Before I talk about the quality of the lipstick, let's get into the physical.
It's very classic, high quality packaging. It doesn't feel like plastic. It feels like metal but I'm not 100% sure. I noticed I don't see fingerprint marks on the tube no matter how much I press on it. It's also on the heavier side compared to drugstore lipsticks. The one thing I really like about the packaging is the matching band around the tube that matches the lipstick color with the YSL logo. If you own more than one, this will help distinguish them apart.
Here's a closer look at the lipstick color.

I just smelled the lipstick and it has a slight rosy smell. It smells good! The weird thing is I don't recall a smell in the past when I applied the lipstick. Now that I'm applying it, I smell it.
Here's a swatch of the color on my hand.
Here's how the color looks on me.
I usually try not to post a picture of my face, but I thought it might be more helpful to see how it looks on me than on my lip only. It's not the most unique color, but it's pretty. It's my color!

Now for my overall opinion... If you're looking for a shimmery or matte lipstick, this color isn't it. It's very creamy all around from the look to the texture. It's easy to apply and if you pluck your lips together, there will be some movement. You will have to reapply your lipstick. For that reason, I do recommend plucking your lips together with this lipstick. Since the lipstick is very creamy, I do have to agree with the description it feels like silk while on your lips.

I've read other reviews that it shows fine lines on your lips. I can see that happening if you have very deep lines or your lips aren't hydrated. For that reason, I recommend you hydrate your lips if you're going to use this lipstick. It's not the most moisturizing lipstick, but then again it's not the most driest either. The lipstick lasted a good 2-3 hours depending on how hydrated my lips were.

Pros:
* YSL; a brand you hear great things about.
* High class packaging.
* Matching color band around the tube.
* It smells like rose.
* Creamy texture.
* Last 2-3 hours.

Cons:
* Packaging can be heavy at times.
* Don't pluck your lips together.
* Shows deep lines.
* Not recommended for lip individuals.

Would repurchase: Maybe, I'm mixed on this lipstick.

That's indeed a very pretty colour~ ^^ I really want to try these YSL lipsticks too, but the price is seriously O_O and there's no YSL makeup counter here (only perfume) >_< It's a good thing I guess, otherwise I'd be broke, haha

I hear great things about the YSL rouge volupte lipsticks but the price tag always deterred me from getting them. I really like this shade on you! It is very flattering against your skintone :)

Thank you! :) I'm sure it's a lot cheaper here than what you can get over there. Even with that, I still think it's pricey... hehe~

Oh wow, I haven't seen or heard from you in awhile! I'm glad to see you back. :)

Thank you! I like the color as well, but I feel like it's nothing new. I'm just glad I own one YSL Lipstick, but it is expensive.

The lipstick tube is so sweet and girly while still being classy, and the colour chosen is such a pretty light pink. Looks great on you!
